#Fringe 2011 year in review
—*********** NOW, THAT WAS THE FRINGE YEAR 2011 ***************
20. THOSE CANADIAN PROMOS
February 14th, 2011
Back in the good ol’ days, there would be a FRINGE promo on Friday and by Monday we would have the Canadian promo which would always give away a little more. It was pretty much routine until… the ‘6B’ promo, when our good Canadian friends treated us to the best kept spoiler of em’ all, a POlivia kiss. The interwebs exploded. Canadian episodic promos were promptly exterminated in season 4. BOO!
19. FANS & THE DOT COMS
October 2011
Whether it was a FRINGE licence plate , Anna Torv’s autograph tattooed on your arm, spear-heading a worthwhile camapign or pimpin out your ride ; This year FRINGE fans brought their A-Game. Also, keeping fans up to speed throughout 2011 on all things FRINGE were fringetelevision, annatorv.com, fringelatino, zonafringe seriefringe and cortexiphan.net
18. SETH GABEL PROMOTED TO SERIES REGULAR
May 11th 2011
Seth Gabel was promoted to a series regular as Lincoln Lee, thus paving the way for a deliciously awkward (potential) nerd romance with Amber (technically it’s orange) Olivia.
17. THE SEASON 3 DVD RELEASE
September 6th, 2011
Ask and ye shall receive; Joel Wyman was true to his word and made sure to include Peter’s eulogy audio as a bonus feature. But there were some very sad faces when the dvd set contained not one deleted scene. *sniff* Next time guys!
TOAST, NYOM, NYOM (3X19)
April 15th, 2011
”I think that’s the man who’s gonna kill me,” but first let me enjoy this delicious piece of toast because that’s how I roll- Olivia Dunham.
15. FRANK STANTON
February 11th, 2011
The gift that keeps on shirtlessly giving. Philip Winchester as Frank Stanton gave a heart-aching and perfectly understated performance in the season 3 episode ‘Immortality’ prompting an award nomination from GMMR. Will we see the return of the shirtless one this season?
14. THE RETURN OF WILLIAM BELL
April 15th 2011
Leonard Nimoy officially retired from film and television but for FRINGE the ‘dog would hunt’ just one last time and what a hunt it was. Zoic studios did an impeccable job animating what would be an episode worthy of the coveted #19 slot.
13. VIOLET SEDAN CHAIR TREASURE HUNT IN RECORD STORES
January 6th 2011
As a genius tie-in, producers created a vinyl album for the group titled Seven Suns and shipped it to select independent record outlets nationwide. The best part: Each individual album was unique, including specific spoilers and clues about the show embedded in the lyrics.
12. THE CREW
December 6th, 2011
Time and time again those who were lucky enough to catch FRINGE filming in 2011 remarked how the crew were not only hard-working but they were especially kind. But that’s not to say you should all turn up on set in your droves, they gotsta work yo!

Joshua Jackson endeared himself to pretty much everyone by penning a truly fantastic 3 part comic series ‘Beyond The FRINGE’ exploring uncharted regions of the show’s mythology… and it freakin rocked!
10. #TheDayWeDied
May 6th, 2011
On May 6th FRINGE fans rallied on Twitter to have ‘the day we died’ trend worldwide and trend it did, leaving the uninformed very confused as to its meaning!
9. TWISTS AND TURNS
February 25th- May 6 2011
There is nothing quite like a FRINGE twist. From little Olivia revealing Peter’s whereabouts to an 80’s mulleted Walternate to ZOMG! BOlivia is knocked up with a peanut culminating in the twists to end all twists…”he never existed.” Say what now? Observer yo’ be crazy! Peter Bishop sacrifices himself for his woman and his crazy pants father. A storyline heavily influenced by leading man Joshua Jackson left jaws firmly on the floor and begging for more! FRINGE brought the twists and turns like never before & we L-O-V-E-D it.
8. MONICA OWUSU-BREEN & ALISON SCHAPKER
Unsung FRINGE heroines of 2011. While technically ‘Marionette’ aired in December 2010, its effect permeated through the next 5 episodes of early 2011. To this day the final scene between Peter and Olivia is quoted, referenced and held up as a marker of excellence. Not only did it strike a chord with viewers but it paved the way for Anna Torv to do what she does best and ‘knock it out of the park.’ CCA, Saturn and Scream nominations for Best Actress soon followed.
7. COMIC CON 2011- JOSHUA JACKSON AS AN OBSERVER
July 23rd, 2011
The FRINGE panel at SDCC was one of the best yet. A jubilant cast with producers Wyman and Pinkner threw out ‘Save Peter’ tshirts to the crowd. Meanwhile, Joshua Jackson made a triumphant return to SDCC in full Observer uniform minus the bald head and shaved eyebrows.
6. ARI MARGOLIS
Everyday 2011
FRINGE’S resident promo extraordinaire brought much needed levity during the show’s mini breaks and Summer hiatus of 2011. Aside from his awesome promos and cast interviews, Ari ‘the bridge’ Margolis kept fans ticking over with SOTD, spot prizes, instagrams and brief lines or descriptions from future episodes. We literally woulld have been lost without him.
5. JOEL WYMAN, JEFF PINKNER, JASIKA NICOLE & ANNA TORV ON TWITTER
June 21st 2011
This was the year that executive producers Jeff Pinker and Joel Wyman amped up their twitter connection with viewers and fans around the world. So much so that they immediately informed tweeters of the shows renewal ” Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!” Jasika joined in September much to the delight of fans… and then there was Anna. The show’s leading lady took over Joel Wyman’s account to chat pet names ‘Little Red Torvette’ and the return of a certain Stanton six pack.
4. AWARDS FINALLY!

2. KEVIN REILLY, FOX and WB- FRINGE RENEWED
March 3rd 2011
The impossible was indeed possible where FRINGE was concerned. ”The ingenious producers, amazingly talented cast and crew, as well as some of the most passionate and loyal fans on the planet, made this fourth-season pick-up possible,” said Reilly. The Friday death slot curse was broken.
1. POlivia
February 18, 2011
56 episodes of will they, won’t they? tears, angst, false starts, parallel universes, interfering mind readers and a certain carnal manipulating vagenda-those two kids finally got it together. Beautifully paced with an intense vulnerability and rawness that sets this romance apart from anything else on television, POlivia made good in episode 14 of Season 3.
